Women in Purple by Nuevo Sendero Presents Benefit Performance Featuring Janet Pérez Eckles

January 10 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

An inspiring event to raise funds in support of survivors of domestic violence.

Orlando, FL — The nonprofit organization Nuevo Sendero hosted a benefit event featuring the conference-performance “From Battle to Victory”, a powerful monologue led by renowned author and international speaker Janet Pérez Eckles.

The event took place on Sunday, June 22, at the Shakespeare Theater in the heart of Downtown Orlando, beginning with a networking reception attended by community leaders, partners, and supporters. All proceeds directly benefited Nuevo Sendero’s Emergency Program, which provides immediate assistance to women and families escaping domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Dr. Diana Mejía, Founder and CEO of Nuevo Sendero, shared: “This event is more than a presentation. It’s an opportunity for us to come together as a community, raise our voices, and actively contribute to transforming lives.”

Olga Aymat, President of the Board, added: “Each ticket purchased represented a step toward healing, dignity, and the rebuilding of a life free from violence.”

Janet Pérez Eckles, a woman who has triumphed over blindness, loss, and pain, shared her true story of resilience and faith—demonstrating how it is possible to move from suffering to victory. Her testimony has been featured before international audiences and has touched thousands of lives.

The event also marked the official launch of Women in Purple (Mujeres de Púrpura)—a network of volunteers and advocates committed to supporting Nuevo Sendero’s mission, spreading its message of help and resilience, and strengthening education and prevention programs for survivors and their families.

Matty Frías, one of the leaders of the Women in Purple movement, expressed that this event reactivates gatherings aimed at uniting more women who want to work for the cause and help eradicate violence against women in all its forms.
